MARLO'S ARTIST STATEMENT:

Through the metaphor of bird symbols and imagery, I communicate visually.Creation becomes a personal expression of flight and spirit. Birds, wings, feathers, and landscapes emerge with structural boundaries. These structures represent a home for the spirit. Birds are a symbol for transcendence. Vision resides between the outer world of appearances and the interior world of memory and intuition. Through artwork, I become a singer, lover, fisher or bird of prey. Birds are mystical creatures becoming the source of inspiration, caught in my process of an ongoing dedication to creation. Content begins with paint and ends with a work to convey a bird's presence and journey. Images suggest a moment in time, the idea of a passage, caught in transition from one place to another, ascending and descending, a metaphor for life and change. When I pick up a feather on the beach,or view the wings or color of a bird, I realize that everything in my world and life is connected to it in some way.
